Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers (HCV)

Federally funded vouchers for very low income people. The family finds the unit that must meet eligibility standards. Rent is based on the tenant's income, which must be within the HUD income limits. Tenants pay a minimum of 30% of their income for rent.

Elderly/Handicapped Housing (Chapter 667)

30 units of state-funded housing called Meadowvale, located at 35 Adams Road, constructed in 1983. All units are one bedroom. Applicants must be 60 years of age or handicapped, and meet income eligibility guidelines. Tenants pay 30% of their income for rent, which includes heat, electric, and water & sewer, as well as a reduced TV cable fee. Eligible and qualified applicants are selected in chronological order by date of application.

Family Housing (Chapter 705)

8 units of state-funded family housing on Cole Avenue & Stetson Road (4 duplexes) constructed in 1983. There are 2,3,& 4 bedroom units. Applicants must meet income eligibility guidelines and pay 27% of their income for rent, which includes water & sewer. Tenants pay their own heat and electric. Applicants are selected in chronological order by date of application.

Mass. Rental Voucher Program (MRVP)

7 project based state-funded units assigned to Spring Meadow apartments on North Hoosac Road (owned by Scarafoni Associates). Tenants are selected by the landlord and screened by the WHA. Applicants must meet income eligibility guidelines. Tenants pay 35% of their income for rent.

Special Need Housing (Chapter 689)

8 units of state-funded housing for the mentally handicapped, located at 45/47 Adams Road. Constructed in 1990, the home is owned by the WHA and leased to a vendor. Residents are referred to the house by the Department of Mental Health. The WHA does not select residents for this program. The home is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
